Don't miss our workshop on The Power of Super 8 Film at SXSW 2012! From a format that was invented to shoot home movies in the 1960’s, Super 8 filmmaking continues to grow as an irreplaceable production medium to filmmakers who want to demonstrate “analog filmmaking” in a digital era. The Power of Super 8 Film will give you the inside skinny on how filmmakers can take modern film stocks, rebuilt and modified Super 8 cameras, and the very best scanning equipment in the industry and create timeless, organic Super 8 images in HD quality. See examples of 35mm theatrical releases, music videos, cutting edge weddings, independent films and more all using modern Super 8 workflows. Whether you are new to filmmaking, been around for awhile shooting on the Red, a wedding videographer who has thought about shooting some Super 8 at your next gig, a film school graduate who never actually shot on film, or someone who has taken the journey before and needs an update, this session is for you. THE SESSION IS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, MARCH 12 IN THE AUSTIN CONVENTION CENTER. You must be a SXSW attendee to attend.

The Power of Super 8 Film seminar, presented by Phil Vigeant, Super 8 expert and author of "The Power of Super 8 Film, Insider Secrets Every Filmmaker Should Know," will take you on a journey through the evolution of Super 8, teaching you how Super 8 filmmaking has been the foundation for some of the biggest film careers in Hollywood. Participants will learn about the history of Super 8 and the modern day Super 8 film applications and techniques that are used by the industry today.
Our hands-on workshop consists of teaching participants how to use a Super 8 camera. Each participant will have the opportunity to shoot there own roll of Super 8 film. Pro8mm will provide all the equipment including cameras, film and educational resource materials. The processing and scanning service fees are included as part of the registration material. "DO A SHOT" with Pro8mm at Our Industries Top Tradeshows
Pro8mm attends some biggest trade shows in the industry such as Cinegear Expo, South by Southwest and more! We annually host "Do A Shot with Pro8mm" at many of these events, which is a free hands-on Super 8 film shooting session. Included is some basic hands-on training with a Super 8 camera, one roll of Super 8 film to shoot and a free t-shirt to all participants. All the film is processed and scanned to HD at our lab, and then a compilation reel is edited of participants Super 8 film.
